2007 Barrett-Jackson fish out of water: 1993 Land Rover Defender 110
Lot Number 1536.1: 1993 Land Rover Defender 110 White/gray/black

Here's a vehicle that sticks out like a sore thumb among the muscle cars and high profile customs at Barrett-Jackson. It's Defender 110 number 194 of only 500 made back in '93. The Defender 110s were real-deal off-roaders that could tackle just about any conditions. This particular one is just about perfect with only 13,500 original miles on the clock. Sure it has the rather antiquated and weak 3.9-liter V8 engine, but 135 hp was considered adequate at the time. OK, maybe not, but still it has enough grunt to make it through most situations you'd encounter thanks to its permanently engaged 4 wheel drive, differential lock and 5-speed manual transmission. Almost seems a novelty to see a stick in a Land Rover nowadays with the public's penchant for auto trannies. This one is fully kitted out with 'a mesh lined roof rack, rear access ladder and front safari guard.' The winning bidder even gets a set of extra wheels mounted with snow tires! And if that isn't good enough to get you to bid, consider this: there's also a set of unmounted studded snow tires for when the weather gets really nasty. Seems a remote chance here in Scottsdale, but you never know. There are surely a few bidders here from Denver who might appreciate it. And it really is an immaculate car. Looks like it has been in stasis for these past 14 years. Well, at least on the outside. Inside it's seen a few upgrades like a new stereo with 6-disc changer, cup holders and a removable rear bike and ski rack.
