Fun @ the dealer, recovery on Powerline
Today after the Scottsdale North dealer day several of us decided to take a spin down telegraph trail which is located just off Dynamite and Pima in Scottsdale. This is the first time after owning my Range Rover 2 1/2 years and putting 30k miles on it that I actually took it out on a trail besides simple forest roads.

Night Run under a full moon
The meetup was at 8pm at the intersection of Bartlett Dam Road and Cave Creek Road. With everyone above present except Armando, we left the meeting place at 8:30ish, and began our descent into the Bartlett Reservoir area. As we made the 17 mile trek, we witnessed the moon rising over the mountains, which was an incredible sight. The moon was orange and larger than life.

Expedition West on Telegraph Canyon
Note: Flexible suspension, low center of gravity and a traction device are helpful on this severely rutted, and often off-camber trail. Tall vehicles with stiff suspension would require an experienced, confident driver.

A Pleasant and Relaxing Weekend
This was a great trip and we had a very pleasant and relaxing weekend. The drive from Tucson and Phoenix is quite long taking about 4 hours from Tucson and close to 5 hours from Tempe to Turkey Creek.

A Pleasant and Relaxing Weekend
the best camping spot ever
It was a 173 mile drive from my house in Tempe to our meeting place at Turkey Creek.
I took US 60 from Tempe through Superior then to Globe and then went South on 70 towards Safford. Fifteen miles north of Safford I headed West on the Bonita Klondyke Road (all dirt) another fifty miles or so to our meeting place at Turkey Creek. Those who came from Tucson came through Wilcox.

Saturday trail run trip report
Had 12 or so Rovers with us on Saturday to run up Box Canyon and up over the Dragonbacks, including two D-90s, a classic RR, and lots of Discos. A pretty familar group, with everyone having experience. We played on that hill climb just east of the top of Box Canyon, and watched Josh take a new '04 Disco up the middle one (the one with the huge ruts in it). He was successful, if you ignore the damage to the front turn signal assembly and rear bumper! Learned from Josh that they finally put diff-lock back into the Disco in the '04 model.

Mesquite Groves and Tamarisks
On Friday, Jon Christensen and Austin, Chad Manz, James Howard and I headed out for the Coke Ovens outside of Florence. The rain was just ending as we set out on the trail and it was just enough to eliminate the dust, no mud. Instead of going in the usual way via Box Canyon we turned off at the Ashurst-Hayden Dam and crossed what was left of the Gila after the Dam diverts the water into the irrigation canal.
