{"id":86,"date":"2008-06-21T10:29:45","date_gmt":"2008-06-21T10:29:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/azlro.org\/5\/2008\/06\/21\/tread-lightly\/"},"modified":"2008-06-21T10:29:45","modified_gmt":"2008-06-21T10:29:45","slug":"tread-lightly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azlro.org\/5\/tread-lightly\/","title":{"rendered":"Tread Lightly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"caption\" src=\"images\/articles\/tread2.png\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tread lightly\" width=\"71\" height=\"91\" align=\"left\" \/>AZLRO follows the guidelines of the Tread Lightly campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong> What is Tread Lightly!?<\/strong> Tread Lightly!, Inc. is a national nonprofit organization with a mission to promote responsible outdoor recreation through ethics education and stewardship.<\/p>\n<p>   Tread Lightly! provides outdoor ethics for all types of outdoor recreation&#8211; everything from hiking to hunting to camping, with a special focus on motorized and mechanized recreation&#8211; like four wheeling, motorcycling, snowmobiling, and boating. <\/p>\n<p>   Tread Lightly! also offers unique training and restoration programs strategically designed to instill an ethic of responsibility in a wide variety of outdoor enthusiasts and the industries that serve them. <\/p>\n<p>  The organization\u2019s goal is to balance the needs of people who enjoy outdoor recreation with our need to maintain a healthy environment and it\u2019s leading the way to help remedy current recreation issues. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"caption\" src=\"images\/articles\/tread.png\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tread lightly\" title=\"tread lightly\" width=\"320\" height=\"150\" align=\"right\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tread Lightly! is funded by donations from individual members, corporations, dealerships, clubs, retailers, government and others interested in spreading the message of responsible and ethical use of the outdoors. Federal Partners include the National Park Service, Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, and Army Corps of Engineers. <\/p>\n<p><strong>  What does Tread Lightly! Do?\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: normal\" class=\"Apple-style-span\">Tread Lightly! focuses its programs and efforts in education and stewardship to further the goals of responsible and ethical recreation. Current programs include: <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>  Tread Trainer\u2122<\/em><span style=\"font-weight: normal\" class=\"Apple-style-span\"> is a training course designed to train participants in innovative, practical methods of spreading outdoor ethics to the public with a curriculum specifically focused on motorized and mechanized recreation. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>  Restoration for Recreation\u2122<\/em><span style=\"font-weight: normal\" class=\"Apple-style-span\"> is another important element of Tread Lightly! that aims to construct, enhance or restore recreational sites across the country. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>  Education Materials:<\/em><span style=\"font-weight: normal\" class=\"Apple-style-span\"> The organization also produces a multitude of educational pieces for outdoor enthusiasts, hunting educators, advertising agencies, the government and children of all ages. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>   Communication Tools:<\/em><span style=\"font-weight: normal\" class=\"Apple-style-span\"> Tread Lightly! has developed several communication tools including web, television, radio and print public service announcements. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>   Tread Lightly! History<span style=\"font-weight: normal\" class=\"Apple-style-span\"> In 1985, the US Forest Service launched the Tread Lightly! program as a means of addressing concerns about the impacts from increasing numbers of visitors to the great outdoors for recreational purposes.
