Trail Runs (Official)
Trail Leader:
Craig Ludwig

Event Description

This should be a great trail run for this time of year. I scouted it out last week and I was the only one on the majority of the trail. The trail eventually drops down into Box Canyon where we will drive out. The majority of this trail is an easy drive. However, there are some technical sections that are challenging with some hill climbs and steep rocky down hill sections. You will get to fully test out your traction control and hill descent systems! Depending on time spent on the trail we will probably exit about noon where we can eat in the shade at the end of the trail or you can depart for town for a lunch.

Meet location: Circle K: 1541 N Arizona Blvd, Coolidge, AZ  85128, Plenty of room here to line up our 15 Rovers.

Time Departing at 8am - sharp.

2nd Meet location: Staging area to air down (33.06127, -111.37755)  2nd Departure: 8:30am - sharp

Communication: We will use FRS radios on channel 21. You will want this to hear instruction when you are on the obstacles :)

General: Bring your tire repair kits, light recovery kit if you have them, radios, jackets and snacks or meals for the day.

Venue Description

This moderate trail, has a few difficult sections making it challenging for stock vehicles without rock stacking and driver skill. The highlights of Sandman Road are the beautiful views in the surrounding areas along the trail and access to the OHV trails within it. This trail really is a photographers playground. Making a single day on the trail or, a multiple day is very easy to do using any number of the nearby and connecting trails. There are a number of fun side trips located within this area including the Cottonwood Canyon Petroglyphs, Reymert Mine, Ajax Mine, or even a brief hike to Martinez Cabin, Canyon, and Mine just to name a few.
