Dealer Trip - Box Canyon
Meet in Florence at the CHEVRON station on SR-79, just south of the Gila River. We will be running Box Canyon, and then running a new set of Dragonbacks (those of you who do Telegraph Canyon are familiar with the Dragonbacks). I think most of you have done Box Canyon before, but for anyone who hasn't, it's a moderately difficult, very scenic trail located east of Florence. Goes up a narrow canyon, then we end climbing over ridges called the dragonbacks that is like a roller-coaster. This was the expedition that originally was considered as Reno Pass that Jon and I scouted a few weeks ago and determined would be too difficult for a dealer run. Box Canyon should make for a nice, half-day substitute. Please confirm your attendence with me or Amy Skrocki at LR Scottsdale. -Mark Haeussler
A unique and scenic drive through a narrow, steep-walled canyon. Once in the canyon, there are several moderate-size rocks to get over. Stock SUVs with good ground clearance should be okay. It is a good idea to be spotted through the tough spots. You may bottom out occasionally but damage is unlikely. Stay off this trail if rain is expected, the canyon is extremely dangerous when flooded.
