Old Mojave Road
This will be a 4 night trip, three of which will be camping along the historic Old Mojave Road. We will leave the Phoenix area late afternoon on February 27th and travel to the Laughlin, NV area, where we will spend the night in the Avi Casino. The next morning, Friday, we will hit the trail and head West over this amazing scenic trail. For the next 3 nights we will camp in various locations along the trail. This camping will be a wilderness camping situation with no services, which will require all to pack it in and pack it out. It is essential that you be prepared adequately for self-sufficient camping as well as cold nights. The final evening, Sunday, will be spent towards the end of the trail. Monday morning we will complete the last few miles of the trail and head out to pavement. From there we will head back to Phoenix, arriving in mid to late afternoon.
4x4 requirements for this trip are minimal, with any stock Land Rover being able to complete this trip. The pace will be casual and there will be plenty of opportunities for photos.
The Mojave Road was one of the ways you traveled to Arizona Territory if the Army sent you there in the 1870s. It was a wagon road between Los Angeles and Prescott. For the last decade, many Land Rover Owners from California, Nevada, and Arizona have done a 3 day 2 night trip over the New Year's holiday along the section in the Mojave National Preserve, starting at the Colorado River near Bullhead and ending at I-15.
