Trail Runs (Official)
Trail Leader:
James Howard

Event Description

We will meet at 9am at the Avi Casino near the gas station in Laughlin, Nevada. We will then proceed to the Colorado River and the trail head. We will spend 4 days and 3 nights on the trail.

The entire length of the trail is 139 miles with side trips we should not be over 200 miles, so you be the judge if you need extra fuel. We are planning on bringing our 1968 Dormobile, and it has a small gas tank, so we will probably bring a 5 gallon jerry can, just in case.

Our daughter, Grace, is working on her Congressional Award, and she will be planning this trip for her Expedition/Exploration portion of the Award. Grace is working on a special permit from the Mojave National Preserve. This is required for over 6 vehicles. This will be a joint run between the AZLRO and Northern California Land Rover Club (NCLR). The NCLR will be bringing 6 vehicles and the AZLRO can have up to 6 vehicles.

Because the AZLRO covered the cost of the Special Permit and half of the insurance, all participants must be AZLRO members. If you are not a member, it is time to join.

Here is the basic plan and what Grace sent to the Park Service.

Venue Description

The Mojave Road was one of the ways you traveled to Arizona Territory if the Army sent you there in the 1870s. It was a wagon road between Los Angeles and Prescott. For the last decade, many Land Rover Owners from California, Nevada, and Arizona have done a 3 day 2 night trip over the New Year's holiday along the section in the Mojave National Preserve, starting at the Colorado River near Bullhead and ending at I-15.
