Meet the 2012 Council

Bob Kolander

Your friendly neighborhood webmaster aka "koly" - Bob has been a member since 1998 and maintained the website just as long. His previous Land Rovers include a 1995 D90 and a 1990 Range Rover Classic, appropriately named "Orange Rover."

Although he presently does not own a Land Rover, he's been extremely active in the club over the last year: He served as a trail leader at the 2011 rally and has been on at least 14 different trail runs with over 40 AZLRO members since March 2011.

Chad Manz

Land Rover owner since April 2000 and has been active in club for over 12 years. He owned a 1989 Range Rover County for almost 9 years before rolling it on the way to work on October 31st, 2008. He subsequently replaced it in January 2009 with his current Land Rover, a 1991 Range Rover Hunter and his current daily driver.

He knows the 1989 to 1995 Range Rovers extremely well and is always willing to assist other Range Rover owners with information about parts, repairs or modifications.

He can be reached via email at or at (480)363-2648.

James Howard

James has been a Land Rover owner since a fateful day in 1995 when he responded to a classified ad in the Arizona Republic for a one-owner 1972 Series 3. On the test drive it was slow and loud, yet somehow put a smile on his face, so his savings account was raided and the title transferred. A few months later he met Kelly and they were soon exploring the Four Corners in the Rover. On one trip to Moab, a friend let Kelly drive a Range Rover, and Kelly decided she needed one. She traded in her Nissan Sentra for a 1989 Range Rover, which was an awesome vehicle. It took them on their honeymoon to Canada, brought their child home from the hospital in a snowstorm, and had 300,000 miles on it when it was finally sold and replaced with a 93 Range Rover. The Series 3 was sold and eventually replaced with a 1968 Land Rover with a Dormobile camper conversion, and the 93 Range Rover was replaced with a low mileage 92 Range Rover.

James has been active in the AZLRO since day one. He was on the council previously, and feels like it is time to contribute to the club again.

Shaun McDonald

Shaun McDonald - Member of AZLRO since 2008. 2nd year of AZLRO Council participation. Owner of a 2005 LR3 (white) and 1994 Discovery I.

I decided to purchase a Land Rover as it was the vehicle my wife and I thought suited our needs and my familiarity of the vehicles having been around one (my dad's 88" Series 2A) at a young age. After owning Land Rover over the past few years I would find it difficult to drive anything else. I enjoy Land Rover ownership because it has brought me in touch with a great group of people in AZLRO. There is a certain camaraderie that makes participation in the club's events very enjoyable. When I first joined the club I was semi-reluctant to participate in more than camping or simple trail events but now I find myself changing out differentials, using lockers and even leading a trail or two. Oh how the times change once the LR addiction grabs hold!

I can be reached via email:

Steve Odgear

I have been a Land Rover owner and an active AZLRO member since March 2006.

I have attended, supported and helped with all the AZLRO Land Rover Rallies and served as a Trail Leader for the 2011 Rally.
