Dry Creek Road

Details

Dry Creek Scenic Road, a 6.5-mile portion of State Route 89A from Cottonwood to Sedona, crosses the Verde Valley on its way to Red Rock Country, with side trips to Cathedral Rock or Sedona’s backcountry of colorful hidden canyons and ancient ruins. The journey takes less than a half-hour nonstop, but plan on adding at least an hour or two for each side trip. After crossing the cottonwood-shaded Verde River, the highway climbs east. Look back for views of Cottonwood, Clarkdale and Jerome, which clings to the side of Mingus Mountain.

This Red Rock gem is a somewhat easier trail that leads to adventure! Don your hiking boots and be ready to visit two breathtaking natural arches, Devils Bridge and Vultee Arch. If that isn’t enough adventure, a side trail to Ven Deren Cabin brings you back a hundred years to an old settler’s cabin that was actually used in two hollywood movies.
